Functionality

The FM provides the next free layout area number within a layout. It is suitable for multi-user operation, in which several people are working on the same layout at the same time. It ensures that a layout area number is not assigned more than once.

A whole block of layout area numbers can also be requested. The size of this block is transferred in PI_BLOCK_SIZE.
