Functionality

Generating a temporary object number.

Temporary objert numbers are those that, for example, when creating new objects can be used until the real object number is known. Temporary object numbers must be always be replaced by the real object number before saving. Such temporary object numbers are only unique within a transaction.

Under no circumstances may a temporary object number be written to the database.

The services used by the object number (such as status management, settlement rule) generally have function modules to replace the temporary object number with the final object number.

Although the temporary object number is unique within a transaction, even across roll area limits (CALL DIALOG, SUBMIT, CALL TRANSACTION), the number is not unique across transaction limits.
