Functionality

This module provides an example of the interface and structure of search help exits in search helps.

All of the interface parameters defined here are mandatory for a function module that is to be used as a search help exit, since the caller does not know which of the parameters are actually used internally.

A search help exit is called at multiple times during the F4 activity. The relevant activity step is specified in CALLCONTROL-STEP. If the module is only to make a few modifications before the step, CALLCONTROL-STEP should remain unchanged.

In contrast, if the module is to process the step completely, the subsequent step must be returned in CALLCONTROL-STEP.

For more information, see the extensive documentation about the concept of search help exits.

The module must respond immediately to all steps that it does not recognize or that it should not process with an EXIT.
