| The external timer process is currently used exclusively during |
| profiling in the Virtual Machine Container (VMC). Depending on your |
| settings, this profiling is set for specific requests, specific |
| users, or even specific VMs. So that this does not result in the |
| timer process constantly being started and ended, it is ended with a |
| certain delay: if the timer is to be ended, the system first waits |
| for the specified time. The timer is then ended only if it is still |
| not required after this period of time has elapsed. |
