MB51 Memory Problems
Within the last two months, our production system has locked up due tousers executing transaction MB51 with no parameters. This is a lock up of
the SAP OS, not the AS400. We are at 31H V4R4. I just applied notes 90544
and 103737 about MB51 memory overflow issues, but running in a test
instance, and observing the memory usage using SM04, I can see the memory
usage going to very unacceptable levels. So these notes do not cure the
problem.
I've looked at notes 44695 and 121625 about AS400 memory management. As
near as I can determine we conform to note 44695, but there are quite a few
variables in this, and I by no means understand them all. Is there an
instance parameter which will positively limit the amount of memory one
dialog process can consume? I feel we surely have some parameter that
needs a change to control this runaway MB51.
