/QFileSvr.400 authorities

Hello, group.

We are running two separate machines, both on V4R4 and we use Client Access
Express on Windows 2000 PCs.

I set up symbolic links to both machines in the /QfileSvr.400 directory, on
both machines. At the OS-level, I can access and view data from the other
machine while logged on the other machine.

I wrote an ABAP to access the data via a process like AL11 but only to show
the /QfileSvr.400 directories, e.g.:

2001/03/15 15:09:40 PRD KERRSAP1
SAP-Directories

TST /QFileSvr.400/s101f63m/kerrdrug/TST
QAS /QFileSvr.400/s101f63m/kerrdrug/QAS
PRD /QFileSvr.400/kerrsap1/kerrdrug/PRD

However, if I am in the SAP TST environment (machine A), I can only view the
files in the directory of machine B-not the data within the files
themselves. Vice versa if I am in the SAP PRD environment (machine B), I
can only view the files in the directory of machine A-not the data within
the files themselves. The system produces a short dump complaining about
the permissions:

Error analysis

Unable to open file "/QFileSvr.400/kerrsap1/kerrdrug/PRD/disco5.txt".
Error text: "Permission denied."
Error code: 3401

However, when I attempt to change the authority at the OS-level, I receive
an error message:

Message ID . . . . . . : CPFA0AD Severity . . . . . . . : 40
Message type . . . . . : Diagnostic
Date sent . . . . . . : 03/15/01 Time sent . . . . . . : 15:18:27

Message . . . . : Function not supported by file system.
Cause . . . . . : An attempt was made to use a function which was not
supported by the file system for path /QFileSvr.400/KERRSAP1. The path
selected may not be valid for the function, or it may not be in the same
file system.
Recovery . . . : Check the path name for accuracy. You may need to use
another path for the operation. Check the job log for possible additional
messages.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks for any assistance.
