Database Index not used
Hello *all,we want to go in production on 1st April with SAP R/3 4.0B and now we
have a problem with the database. We have two machines under V4R5, one
270 -two-way and one 730 8-way.
While trying to load data from our old system R/2 into COPA we have a
strange phenomen.
On the 270 (dev and test) first we had the problem, the database did not
use the index while loading the datas. We had runtime of about 10 hours
for 170000 records to load, because the database did a full table scan
instead of using the index. Now, after a couple of days, the index in
tst is used and the load shortened to 15 minutes.
On our prod machine (730), same OS, same ptf, last cumpackage, last
DB-Fixpack we now have the phenomenon the index is not used like in tst
before.
SQL-Trace in R/3 shows the optimizer points to the right index and seems
to use it, but on OS-level you can see millions of reads on that table
where the index should be used.
The problem is issued to SAP and IBM.
Oops, while writing this we've found a solution: after loading the first
datas delete the index and then rebuild it with SE14. After done this,
the index works very fine.
Did anyone here have a similar phenomenon ?
