Relocating SAP from V4R3 to a new V4R5 system
Hello everyone...I am currently running SAP 3.1I with OS/400 V4R3. We are replacing
our Development system (S20) with a new (820). Since the new 820 will
be shipped with V4R5, I will be moving DEV and QA from V4R3 ->
V4R5. The relocation process I've done several times. What's new to
me is relocating these two SAP systems to a system with a newer OS
V4R5. I was advised by the IBM SAVE/RESTORE group to 1st -> Upgrade
our S20 to V4R5. 2nd -> Go SAVE 21. Last -> Go RESTORE 21.
I would rather not take that approach. I am planning to move the
user profiles, essential IFS directories, R3* Libs, etc... and have a
new V4R5 Kernel in Place. We will be keeping the same IP and
hostname.
Has anyone been through this scenario? Is there any knowledge
regarding converting objects during a restore to a newer OS V4R5?
