FW: CFINTnn jobs in ST06

WRKSYSACT needs 5769PT1 Performance tools installed I'm afraid.

In my view this command should be part of OS400, not some add-on product.

Anyway, I heard that performance tools is going to be scrapped in OS400 V5.
Surely IBM won't scrap WRKSYSACT?

Fernando,

It is likely that 'wrksysact' has *public as '*exclude', what AS/400 User
Profile are you logged
in under? Have somebody with qsecofr give you permission to run this
command.

As you already stated, concerning interactive queries "....not letting the
users run queries" - this would be a good idea,
change the QRY commands to exclude running in interactive mode.

The AS/400 performance tools ('STRPFRT') can also be used to compile
runtime statistics (including 'job') which should help you track times of
high CPU utilization.

Maybe submit 'WRKACTJOB' as a batch, with output to '*PRINT' - could run
every 10 minutes (sleeps for 10 minutes).
You can look at the spool files and maybe get more info. on performance.

...just a few thoughts.

Hi Rick,

I don't have the WRKSYSACT command. My OS version is V4R5. Do I have to do
anything special to run this command?

Regards,
Fernando

The command to see these tasks on the 400 is wrksysact (work with system
activity). You have to be pretty quick with the F10 key since the command
doesn't show accumulated data (it's "real time" performance data for the
elapsed interval). It is a very handy command but should be used sparingly.
Unfortunately these CFINTnn jobs are not considered jobs so when you try to
work with the job you get the following: (PFR7020).

Message . . . . : Work with job option not valid for tasks.

Cause . . . . . : The Work with job option (option 5) is not valid with
licensed internal code tasks. This option is valid only for working
with
jobs.
Recovery . . . : Specify the Work with job option with jobs only.

Rick

Hello Fernando!

If you succeed to move your queries into BATCH then you will not
get the "interactive CPU penalty" performed by the CFINTnn processes
and you can use all your "server CPWs".

Hello SAPpers

We have had an EarlyWatch session recently and they have told us that they
saw jobs CFINTnn with a high CPU consumption and that meant that we were
using too much interactive power, and the R/3 performance could be very
affected.

We have a 730 2066 with 2 CPU and 1050 Batch CPW and 70 interactive CPW. We
have a CPU bottleneck and we're going to upgrade to a 730 2068 with 8 CPU
and 2890 Batch CPW and 70 interactive CPW. We're running R/3 4.0B.

The thing is that some users use (or better used) the AS/400 query to
access
to some R/3 data. We have seen that when only 1 user is using the query
nothing happens, but if there are 2 user running queries at the same time,
jobs CFINT01 and CFINT02 get a lot of CPU in ST06.

Until here everything's fine. We can control it not letting the users run
queries.

There have been times when no users were running queries and we still have
seen jobs CFINTnn using a lot of CPU. It's hard for me to analyze what's
running on the system when this happens because there is a number of jobs
of
user SYS* that I see in ST06 (ST06 -> detail analysis menu -> top CPU
processes) that I don't see with WRKACTJOB (for example: CFINT01, CFINT02,
RMTMSAFETA and IOP6754000).

Anybody knows what are those jobs? and can CFINTnn processes run without
users running in interactive?
