Remote CC questions

Hi Rick,

1. As for an R3Trans client export, the data file that is exported is a good
portion of the size of your DB (probably about 80%). Unless you have an ASP
utilization less than 50%, this is probably not viable. Of course, this
assumes that you can't export to tape???

2. There is a note regarding BDLS (#121163) that gives the report name and
instructions to download/upload the source if necessary.

Of course, I still suggest compression and DB restore as a better
alternative. As for the client numbers, there should be no reason why it
can't be changed in QAS. You may have to change a few interfaces (if they
key by mandt), but we have had the same client numbers in PRD and QAS
without issue. We simply changed the default profile to propose our new
client number as a default.

Good luck,

Subject: Remote CC questions

We are at R/3 40B, V4R4, on a 720 and a 730. Remote client copy (720 pulling
from 730) has now been running for 68 hours and although it is progressing
(75 million records copied, 200 journal receivers, etc.), it is only half
way through the tables. Hopefully it is copying all the biggest files first
(it isn't but it has already hit 10 of the top 15) so hopefully it won't run
for another 68 hours. It does beg some questions:

1) There has to be a better way other than the database restore - I do not
have room for the full database restore (plus the client numbers are not the
same so I'm always faced wtih a local client copy after that anyway). Can
someone let me in on just this one little secret? I know local client copies
can be done with the r3trans / control file method but how about remotes?

2) I've noticed a table or two (COEP is one for sure) with the logical
system of the "from" system. There was some discussion in the forum about
transaction BDLS to straighten these things out in later releases. Is there
some equivalent for a 40B system? Is it even necessary? In COEP, the last
client restored from the DB also has the "wrong" logical system in it and we
haven't had any problems that I know of. Which places are critical and which
are not?

Thanks,
Rick Githens
