Long Runtimes of Billing/Invoicing Cycle

Hi Brian,

A couple of thoughts.....

We run billing "RV60SBT1" every day - if you aren't, can you run billing every
day?
We "Print" invoices daily BUT each customer is basically assigned to a day of
the week

Earlier in our project, we had to force the business to "process" the
information which in turn generated invoices on an even flow. We cannot absorb
the runtimes when the business "glomps" their work into 1 single day. What
business process is it that generates the billing? For us, the GI/GR process &
we had to teach the business to make nice flows.

Do you have any opportunities to do something like this? If the billing was
spread over 5 days could you bring that runtime down to 1+ hrs?

Just some thoughts on what we had to do

Doreen

Subject: Long Runtimes of Billing/Invoicing Cycle

All,

We are an R/3 4.5B AS/400 shop and have a situation.

We have huge runtimes of our billing cycle. One of the problems we are
experiencing is when 1 customer (a major U.S. retailer) has an enormous
number of invoices. Our billing run is taking 5+ hours to produce ~4000
invoices. This suits us well now, but this is our "slow season". In 2
months, we will be doubling their billing dollar volume.

Some of the things we are doing here are: working with SAP and applying OSS
notes for billing performance, tracing code and tuning user exits and
configuration, and considering parallel processing (which, we were told by
SAP, would be difficult to implement).

We are looking for other customers who are in a similar business and have
experienced similar problems. If you would be willing to have a short
discussion about your own trials and tribulations, that would be very
helpful to us.

I know this may not be the *correct* forum, but I'm not sure where else to
go.

Thanks, everyone.
