tcpip port used by SAP

Hi Richard,

the following TCP ports should be interesting for you:

sapdp<instance-no.> 32<instance-no.> ; normal GUI-communication with
R/3
sapms<SID> 36<instance-no.> ; message-server (important if
load-balancing is used during logon)

So, if your instance-no. is 00, the ports 3200 and 3600 will be worth to
look at the R/3-side. The client will
use a different TCP port. Example:

A client sends a request to an R/3 instance, let's say 00. Therefore the
client uses a TCP port >= 1024 as the
source-port and addresses it to TCP port 3200 as the target. When the R/3
sends the response to this request,
TCP port 3200 is used as the source-port and the client's source-port will
be used as the target-port.

The message-server ports will only be used for communication between R/3 and
GUI if you use load balancing
during logon.

Kind regards,
Michael Rautenberg
