Upgrade from 3.1i to 4.6c on iSeries
HiOne of my clients is looking to upgrade from 3.1i to 4.6c, I was wondering if
anyone had any experience of this rather large jump. They are considering buying
a nice new box and putting the old system on the new machine and then using the
old machine to go through the upgrade a few times. They were considering just a
technical upgrade but they realised that SAP would look so very different on
4.6c as opposed to 3.1i and that the users would not recognize the system when
they came in on the Monday. With an upgrade of this scale there has to be
analysis of the functional side plus user training , fixing the authorizations
etc.

PS It feels funny after 13 years to write iSeries and not AS/400, as long as
IBM are actually trying to get the word out though .......
