Unexpected return code 13 calling DbSl & D BIF_RSQL_INTERNAL_E RROR

Mike,

When I run SM51. I see this from our 4.6C system:

0.536) APO: correct internal table processing in COM routines (note 395695)
0.537) DYNPRO_FIELD_CONVERSION on Get Parameter (output) (note 395450)
0.538) Core in dyGetDataR() (note 395299)
0.540) Core in DpFreeResource after restart (note 394454)
0.026) Create library for explain packages failed (note 314181)
0.061) Explain failed for PACKED Hostvariables (note 314181)
0.167) SQL0204 in 3-tier with 46D kernel (note 330456)
0.216) DBSL Hints & Options (note 129385)
0.217) SINGLE_EXECUTION hint in EXEC SQL statements (note 336175)
0.437) Prepare: several mySAP.com components in one DB (note 379572)

It looks like we are at 437 but the savf says 217. My European Basis person
will not be in the office until Monday so I am not sure what version is in
the file.

Chris

Hi Chris,

No problem, and good luck. By the way, you can see what DBSL patch level
you are at via SM51 --> Release Info. If you scroll to the bottom, you will
notice the second set of numbers resetting (the number on the left is simply
sequential). This is where the DBSL specific patch descriptions begin.
Just above this, you should see the last kernel patch number which should
equate to your kernel level. At the bottom of the list, you will see what
DBSL patch you're at.

Example from my 4.5B system:
...
( 389 ) ( 0.563) Muliconnect error reporting (note 358171)
( 390 ) ( 0.565) XXPASS / XXPASSNET caller restriction (note 301894)
( 391 ) ( 0.566) Hostname resolution may block processes (note 356788)
( 392 ) ( 0.567) RFC connection between AS400 and ASCII (note 359539)
( 393 ) ( 0.569) RFC: data dependent read error (note 358557)
( 394 ) ( 0.570) Core in DiagiTableHeader (note 159421)
... ^--- [My kernel level = 570]
( 395 ) ( 0.050) EXEC SQL multiconnect (note 146624)
( 396 ) ( 0.087) MCH3601 in AS4DBCALL/treat_timeout_error (note 155665)
( 397 ) ( 0.089) Fix SQL0901 after SAVR3SYS (note 127594)
( 398 ) ( 0.090) DB monitor improved error handling (note 135369)
( 399 ) ( 0.136) Array Update with SQL0100 (note 162744)
( 400 ) ( 0.250) Fix SQL0901 after SAVR3SYS (note 127594)
( 401 ) ( 0.424) AS/400 Enable array fetch in ExecSQL (note 217236)
( 402 ) ( 0.560) SQL0501 in error handling (note 357741)
... ^--- [My DBSL level = 560]

Does anyone know another method of finding the DBSL level within an R3
system?

Hey Mike.

From looking at the save file on the AS400, it has the latest date for lvl
540 in the text. Our European Basis person did the updates this time. I
will send an email to him to verify.

thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Chris,

This might be a stupid question, but did you update to the latest DBSL patch
(along with your kernel patch)? I have had problems in the past when these
were not updated synchronously.

Hi Chris,

note 335733 definetely doesn't help here. Currently there are no such
problems known in the DBSL for AS/400. As you can see at the date of thie
note, this problem already occurs for some time.
Unfortunately it occured always in between. So this was never solved by IBM.

I got you like this that DLTR3PKG helped for a few days or weeks. This is
exactly the problem, that the SQL-packs seem to "scratch" themselves.
From the SAP-standpoint of view, we try to issue always the SQL-statement.
When then SQL0514 occurs, this means for we have to prepare this statement.
When we do a prepare and get the next time again SQL0514 this is a problem
of the database and exactly this happens here.

So you might wnat to open a PMR at IBM because of this issue.

Regards

Volker
