STAT file analysis

Hello Crosby,

Thank you for the compliment, but alas, I have to deflate the "genious"
bubble ... I can't answer your question. To make my self appear even less
genious-like, I'm going to toss out my thoughts on the subject. I think
SAP pretty much handles all this trans/program/file buffering and I'm not
sure there is a whole lot we can do about it. Add to that the fact the
iSeries handles paging in it's own way, we pretty much can just get out our
lawn chairs and watch the parade on all of this.
But, of course we don't mind what the iSeries does 🙂

Maybe there are "buffering-genious" out there who can shed some light.

take care,
Betsy Strebe

Betsy, hello there. There is a question I want to ask you being the SAP
genious your are. I'm running 3.1I and I want to know is there a way of
loading frequently used transaction and program in to buffered memory prior
to being called the users.

Hi all,

In an attempt to minimize the number of authorization objects in user
logons, I have been given the task of trying to determine what
transactions they are actually using on a routine basis. The only way I
know to do this is to capture the STAT file routinely, before it flushes
and starts collecting anew. Right now I am downloading it to Excel;
scrubbing the file of erroneous information and summarizing by
user/date/tcode.

I know there are better ways and thought I would start here for ideas. Is
anyone managing the STAT file? If so, how (own methods, 3rd party)? Is
there somewhere else to look for the information I need?

thanks in advance,
Betsy Strebe
