Hi Chris,

I constantly have to remind the users that an ABAP program that simply lists
table contents can be written faster than an associated ABAP query.
Additionally, when the developers tell me they are too busy, I usually offer
to do the development myself. I challenge that it will only take a couple
of hours to write a simple ABAP report like that. It's amazing that as soon
as a developer feels that they're losing some of their responsibilities,
they immediately have time to do the report! 🙂

Good luck!

Hey Mike.

Thanks for the information. I am trying to keep from having to grant access
to the tools but its an uphill battle.

Thanks again

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, SOLA started using ABAP Query (or 'Killme') before I started
working here. We have many queries that I am constantly trying to convert
to ABAP so that performance and selection limitations can be enforced on
selection criteria.

We have two activity groups that we assign for this access:
General Users (who run queries):
S_TCODE = SQ00 and SQ01
S_QUERY = Change

Key Users (who maintain user groups, etc.):
S_TCODE = SQ00, SQ01, SQ02
S_QUERY = Change, Maintain
...and for some reason...
S_DEVELOP =
Activity 03
Development Class for Change $*, T*, Y*, Z*

Object name *
Object type FUGR, PROG
Authorization group ABAP/4 pro *

I have a request for granting transactions SQ01, SQ02 & SQ03 to a user.
Looking at these, it looks like they are used for creating queries in SAP.
I have numerous issues with allowing an enduser access to these codes.

Resource usage with large tables.
Security issues with tables.
Adding/removing users from query user groups.
Being able to monitor user usage of queries ran/created/deleted from

an enduser.

I strongly feel that no user except for BASIS should have access to these
tcodes. Does anyone allow these codes to be used on your system today? If
so, could you expalin/diagram your security set up with each transaction?
Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance,
