Volker is right! Here is the work around I got from IBM.





Gary,
As discussed, it may be a simple thing of missing ptfs which you can find
in
the below documents.
Please go to www.as400service.ibm.com . In the middle of the screen , there
is
a pulldown window , press on the Arrow Down and then choose Software
Knowledge
Base and click on Go. At next screen, click on Search. At next screen, in
the box
bring up
1) 8203740 V4RxMx PTF Listing for TCP/LAN Printing
**you will definitely need ptfs from the 1st section. If the printers are
defined as device
description (and not remote outq), you will also need ptfs from 2nd
section.
2) 8411149 V4RxMx PTF Listing for HPT Printing

You can also change the timeouts that are found physically on the printer
and its
adapter (adapter can be internal or external; this is where the ip address
is specified).
-for HP printers, IO timeout should be 300 secs; for Lexmark printers, any
timeout should
be 255
-regardless of printer type, disable the Power Saver
-if adapter is HP, IDLE timeout should be 3500 secs; for Lexmark, EOJ (end
of job)
should be 0.


AFTER you have done the above 2 and the problem is still occurring, I would
like
to see the following:
1) detailed joblog after problem has occurred (spooled file stuck in SND
sts then
you have to end the writer or printer ends on its own; please specify on
the joblog
which problem this is for )
2) remote outq description . This can be obtained by doing wrkoutqd /F4
and then specify
parm Output=*print
3) config pages from the physical printer and the adapter
(it would be good if you can tell me which kind of printer it is and what
kind of adapter
it is connected to )

As informed, there is a known problem with R450 and LEXMARK (MARKNET)
adapters
(especially the older ones) . The fix ,which is update to firmware, can be
obtained from Lexmark themselves (if you have a MarknetS, fix is 1.10.19 ;
if you have other Marknet, they may
or may not have a fix).

Hi Luc,

I have in mind that the firmware of the printers has to be updated from the
vendor. (I have in mind Lexmark).

I think Volker Fleischmann from Rockwool made some experience with this. I
think it was on th list as well. So you might wnat to search again ?
