Forcing DB2/400 to use an index ?
Hi SAPlings!According to my recent experiences and this discussion
I just decided the following:
When I have to fight a DB performance problem, I will
1. Look at the optimizers decision
2. Identify the *SQLPKG involved
3. WrkObjLck <lib>/<package> *SQLPKG
4. Wait for the package to be free of locks
or force this by restarting the locking WPs
5. DltSQLPkg <lib>/<package>
Note: This has been ONE SINGLE SQLPKG and this is really
no state affair
6. Look if the optimizer makes a different decision now
after R/3 has rebuilt the package
7. Proceed with normal DB optimization procedures
BTW: Does anyone know how to gracefully restart a WP
when the system is busy so that noone gets harmed
by the "look-klick-delay" for the restart?
