Ahem. Yes.
The database leap was moderate: 11,8 % of 125 GByte.
Kind regards

Hi Squash! Well again?

In preparation to going from 4.0b to 4.6c in our hospital
we made a HW upgrade from an S40 8-way with 8 GB main storage
to a 740 12-way with 12 GB main storage.
The SAP functional upgrade check session gave us a green light
for this configuration.
No IBMer made any objections about the new configuration.

"The day after" we saw a terrible increase in response times
and in DASD activity. Hard days for us!
Now we have 20 GB RAM and the system is running smoothly again.

I've talked to a person who works with a big business partner
in EMEA in spring and he told me that the CPU/RAM ratio of 1
is too low, it should be about 2 (i.e. 2 GB per processor).
Our case has proven his thumb rule.
Seems that there is more knowledge and experience about sizing
SAP iSeries servers outside IBM and SAP than inside.

HTH
Rudi

Generally, would anyone here have any idea how much more disk/RAM/CPU an
upgraded 4.0B system (to
4.6C) would take? We are running basically all modules except HR.

Not looking for anything concrete, just some rough numbers.

Thanks!
Andy
