Huge "Unprotected Storage"
One helpful tool is "DSPTMPSTG", which should be in the kernel library.Sometimes you can tie the results of this back to a work process. If you look
at details for the work process, maybe that will reveal something--large
internal table? some kind of sort?
Volker also helped us with a "pre-allocation", which drove up our temp storage,
but that's new with 4.6, I believe, so that shouldn't be your trouble.
If it makes you feel any better, we're on 4.6C--our current unprotected is 73 GB
and we've maxed out at just over 100 GB....things could be worse!

Hi All,
we are currently running 3.1i on an S30 with 285Gb DASD..
we have noticed from Day 1 of running SAP that the Unprotected
storage is always climbing, and an IPL normally reduces this backdown
to a sensible level, however, we are now using 13% of our Dasd on
unprotected storage..this is 38Gb..!!.
anyone know how I can either clear this out without an IPL or how to
put a ceiling on the amount of DASD it will use
