Stream file ownership
Hi Brian,I have found a few notes on "install/umask" but I still don't understand
exactly what it's supposed to mean. Ours is set to the default "007". Does
each digit have a meaning? Does this parameter change require a "bounce" of
the system? They talk of 077 and 007 (that's James Bond) and 022, etc. I'm
sure there is some better doc on what the parameter actually controls but I
am unable to find it (and a few other parameters could use better
descriptions also). Do you know where to find it?
Thanks,
Rick

Rick,
When creating stream files on the AS/400 platform, I've found it to be very
important to set the "install/umask" parameter to a value such as "002" to
allow any R/3 "user" to be able to deal with the file. I can't tell you how
often I run across this with R/3-AS/400 clients! Others may debate the
"002" (octal) setting, but this has always worked for me!
