Landscape Scenarios
David,We have our PRD system on an 830 mirrored to the primary LPAR on a 740 using
Visionsuite. We also have DEV/TST and QA on separate secondary LPARs on the
740. While only at V4R5, we plan to upgrade to V5R1 before the end of the
year. We have just completed setting up the TST system as a mirrored system
between the two secondary LPARs on the 740 with a view to testing an upgrade
of Vision (currently 6.2.08 - going to 7.0.02) and leaving us with a trial
solution to practice role swaps.
From a hardware point of view, we are currently planning to upgrade the 740
(12 way) to an 840 (24 way) at 16,500CPW, then permanently role swap to use
the primary as the live PRD system, but leave DEV/TST and QA as separate
LPARs on the same machine. This is currently in the early stages of
planning, so may not yet proceed.
I would be happy to share our experiences, such as they are.

We are considering different alternatives for incorporation of high
availability solutions in our client's SAP server landscape, does anyone
have experience with:
1) Remote located DEV/QA instances on LPAR server with HA Target
environment in seperate partition
2) V5R1 LPAR 2-tier centralized server with both SAP PRD and SAP DEV/QA on
same server under seperate instances.
