Hi Thomas,
How many processors is your 830? We have one that is only a 4way.
We are 4.6C shop with a
840-2418 12way DB
two SB3 12-way application servers connected via 1gb ethernet
We have about 350 concurrent users & our primary use of the system is for sales
order entry
We could use only one SB3; but having the second one gives us redundant app
server just in case of failure
All users connect via the SB3
I imagine that you have looked at whether you have enough disk arms (disk
activitiy/utilization)
Make sure that ST05 SQL traces show "clean ABAP code"; you could throw a ton of
hardware into the environment & if the programs are not performing properly,
you'll never see the response times decrease if the code is bad.

we are a company in the automotive industrie. We are using an AS/400 830
with 18GB main storage
an 350 GB disk storage 60% used. We have about 500 user were are 350
concurrent users. Our responstimes are not as good as we like it.
So we are thinking about a seconde iSeries Model 270 as an
applicationserver.
Some use this and what systems are used ? Have some one experince in this ?
Does it helps to get a better performance.
