Actually I think they must match what is in the HOSTNAME field in CHGTCPDMN.
CFGTCP, option 12. If it's lowercase there, ditto INSTVERS. Uppercase there,

I solved my problem, and I feel pretty dumb for it. In the table INSTVERS
the hostnames MUST be
in lowercase letters or it goes bazerk! I just changed the dbhostname and
hostname to lowercase
and it's all fine now!
