changing host names on SAP as/400's
Here is a good one to check for those of us who have ever had to change the hostname on on AS/400 running SAP. It is on note 373097. Our old production box is
now our test upgrade box so I changed the host name & IP address so we could
include it on the network. I was glad that I caught it in time. It would have
crashed the upgrade otherwise. Not that there arent goint to be lots of things
to crash the upgrade anyway.

1. Use the AS/400 command CHGTCPDMN and F4 to check the your TCP/IP host name of
your AS/400.
2. Use the following command to check the data area:
DSPDTAARA DTAARA(R3<SID>400/R3_<Inst.Number>)
<Inst.Number> is the number of your central instance and <SID> is the ID of your
SAP System.
If the end of the character string in the data area is not identical with the
TCP/IP host name, correct the host name in the data area by using the CHGDTAARA
command. Be aware of case sensitivity here.
