OS/DB migration, heterogeneous DB-copy, alternative approaches (cheaper)

Hi Peter,

We too, are planning on migrating this year, Dec 1 time frame. We
successfully did a test migration on our own using the SAP migration
tools.

However, we will be paying SAP the $12000 for migration support and
will have a certified migration specialist hired when the time
comes.

We did the migration test, just to prove it could be done & that the
NT/MSSQL would run it. We migrated our QAS, which was a recent copy
of PRD (55GB), from a 2-way S20 to a 2-way 900mhz PC we put together
for under $2000. We have found no real problems so far, but true
integration testing hasn't started, but it runs much faster than the
S20.

It took us 4 months, off & on, to get the migration procedures worked
out. So I agree, there is no simple way to get this done. I'm
expecting the migration expert to be worth the money.

Let me know if I can be of any help.
