Back-up NT data using iSeries-attached magstar - other alternatives

I think that an alternative approach would be to use a storage manager
product like Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM). This gives a central point of
backup for all of your environment, AS/400 , NT and others. It can be
integrated into a BRMS environment as well. The best overview would be
the redbook : SG24-5472.
It is a little old ( January 2001 ) but gives a good idea of how the
iSeries can be the central site for backup.
Be aware that for any of these solutions, there are serious network issues
- one of the advantages of TSM is that the client compresses data before it
sends it across the network. However, the network issues often cause
people to then start looking at Storage area Networks(SAN), separating
storage and its backup from the server itself. TSM also works in a SAN
environment.

Hi gang,
Innovam would like to get rid of all the different PC-server attached
back-up units, and has asked me if it is possible to use the iSeries
attached 3570 magstar to back-up the NT shares from within an iSeries CL.
Is it possible to access the NT data from the iSeries using e.g the IFS?
There are no FSIOP or IPCS.
