EBCDIC to ASCII & WAS - Questions Questions Questions

Hi Andi,

is it true that you have a 1TB R/3-database? As you probably know
that it will not be just a conversion from EBCDIC to ASCII (same
database-size as before) but to UNICODE (approx. 50 - 70% more
disk-space needed) what are your future-plans?

Even with a big discount from IBM it will be quite expensive to
add the required disk-space to your system (harddisks, controllers,
maybe additional racks).

How do you backup your system? Keep in mind that backup-times will
also increase by 50 - 70%!

Kind regards,
Michael Rautenberg

Questions

Hi All,

long time no post - hope you are all well...

Does anyone have any experiences or information on the "new"
direction from SAP.

Q1. Anyone ever done an EBCDIC to ASCII conversion on iSeries?
Q2. Web Application Server - Anyone running it?
Q3. WAS - is it only supported on Windows 2000 or can I run it on
Linux or Websphere inside an iSeries?
Q4. Does anyone have any timings on a 1TB database for converting
from EBCDIC to ASCII?

any info you can pass along will be very gratefully received..

best regards

Andi
