Can the ASCII version of SAP run on a single i Series?

Andi

You can still go 2-Tier. The (or one of the) perk with ASCII is that you CAN
run W2K app servers, making the whole thing just that bit cheaper. You can
still run iSeries app servers. It is NOT compulsory to run 3-Tier with
ASCII.

Terminology speaking - GLS (Global Language Support) is the unbrella term
for the whole ASCII, W2K apps., Unicode business on SAP iSeries. It is not
just R/3 4.7 - BW 3.0 will also only be ASCII. Soon all new versions,
products for SAP on iSeries will only be ASCII (then Unicode later).

Pete

Hi All,

can version 4.7 or Enterprise or GLS (whatever your terminology) run
in a standard 2-tier iSeries environment... ie No Application servers?

The info coming down to me is quite vague. . . I have seen that ASCII
app servers are supported connecting to an iSeries but does that mean
that I have to use them? or will my iSeries have enough grunt to
still run 2-tier

thanks

Andi
