Disk space reduction - AS/400
Hi Jan,this is definetely not done by the SAP buffers.
It would be sometimes an advantange for tables, that are NOT buffered and
not too big. Then these tables are always available in main memory.

I read something about setobjacc. Is it a way to improve performance or is
the command already used in the buffering logic of SAP?
Does somebody know a note nr to implement this?

Hello Udo,
we use STRASPBAL *USAGE at night together with TRCASPBAL during day time.
In addition we run STRDSKRGZ every night.
We also reserve 400MB out of 6GB mainstorage to make often used R/3 tables
mainstorage resident (SETOBJACC).
It is hard to say which part of this tuning contributes how much to the
overall DB perfomance. We have average DB - Access times (Time per DB
request in ST03) of 0.4 ms under 4.0B.
Please bear in mind that STRASPBAL will not save you disk space but may
give you better DB performance.
