Status of OS/400 release V5R1
Hey Jim,
As you well know since we broke away from Perrigo, we have the same situation
as you.
We agree with the consensus. Thank you for your effort on this!
- extend V5R1 support through mid-2004

We're planning to upgrade some hardware this fall and have run into a potential
snag:
- We're still on V4R5, which is supported through 12/2002, but won't run the new
hardware
- V5R2 is not yet generally available, nor certified for SAP
- V5R1 looks like the most logical OS upgrade, but support for it runs out
mid-2003, which would force us through another OS upgrade
We'd like to petition IBM to extend support for V5R1. If you'd like that to
happen as well, can you please email back to me, and I'll present them to IBM in
a package? Please indicate your preference:
- extend V5R1 support through the end of 2003
- extend V5R1 support through mid-2004
