SAP on LINUX in an iSeries Partition???

Hi Andrew,

currently there are no plans, to support SAP in a Linux-Partition on iSeries nor
Linux on Intel with the database on iSeries.
If you and perhaps other customers would be interested in that solution, you
should adress this demand to the ISICC in Walldorf, so that they can create a
business case of this.

Regards

Volker

Hi Volker/Andi,

Is there any possibility of SAP supporting LINUX in the future on iSeries?
We, like everybody else in this group, are an iSeries site, but are
currently faced with the prospect of having to install a UNIX server to
support the LiveCache component of APO. I know that SAP are piloting APO on
iSeries at present, but only the database component. Livecache is only NT or
UNIX, and NT only if memory requirements are less than about 3Gb. Our sizing
puts us at 24Gb memory for Livecache. A solution that uses the LINUX
partition for Livecache and IXA Servers for the optimisers on iSeries makes
a lot of sense to me. What are other SAP on iSeries users using as a
platform for APO?

Hi Andi,

fortunately or unfortunately I have to tell you, that this is not supported.
So, nobody is able to run this at the moment, becasue a small part of it
would have to become recompiled for iSeries in special.

So: Definetive nobody!

Volker

Hi All,

anyone running SAP on an iSeries but in a LINUX partition?

if so, what sort of uptimes are you getting?

do you run 24x365?

do you have a 2000+ user base?

if you have, please get in touch as I am interested in your
views/experiences

many thanks

Andi
