Move to UNIX/ORACLE

Hi Michael,

for sure is this right!!!!

You can have a look to our homepage at:
http://www.4soi.de/CopyGuides.htm
(bottom part)

Please keep in mind, that especially to Oracle the migration is really hard, if
you are not experienced with that. You have to maintain manually the tablespaces
as the calculation is normally wrong. and, and, and

So, you need a special consultant. SAP can tell you enough names here. (I could
let you know as well)
It will be definetely a fine adventure, but you will make it. Inn order to
ensure this, you need the special consultant and the special migration service
from SAP, because we all want, that it will be successful !

Regards

Volker

Subject: Move to UNIX/ORACLE

Dear SAPlings,

our company is merging with another company and the management
decided to merge the SAP systems as well.

Unfortunately this was also a decision against R/3 on AS/400.

In the first step it is planned to transfer the different systems
onto one platform (OS = UNIX, probably AIX, DB = ORACLE).

Here are my questions:
- What are the migration steps from AS/400 to UNIX/ORACLE?
- Is it true that SAP forces their customers to do the conversion
together with a certified consultant?

If anybody else has done something like this before, I would be glad
if he or she could share some experiences with us.

Kind regards,

Michael Rautenberg
