Info
Hi Alberto,we will try to setup a new kernel for all releases mid of next year. This will
be based on V5R1 and will contain the 256 GB IFS feature.
Sorry, that it won't be available earlier.

Hi Volker,
The first problem that I don't want see on KERNEL is about the 2GB limit of
object on IFS......IBM solved this from OS/400 V5R1.....we are now using V5R2
with limit of V4R5 caused by actual obsolete KERNEL.....
I think that others general improvment will be possible.......for example by IBM
compiler that is best optimized compared old OS/400 version.......(I HOPE!)
Thank You
Bye
Alberto

Hi Alberto,
the kernel will be at least up to mid of 2003 comipeld with V4R5. It is in 32
bit, because it was always there - before there were other 64 bit platforms. We
corrected this for 6.x kernels. But in order to make it "findable" for you, we
leave the old kernels in 32 bit.
Regards
Volker

V5R2 or at leat complide with V5R1????? And why in SAP market-place we find
OS/400 kernel under "32bit Kernel release" and not under "64bit kernel
release"????
Thank You
Regards
Alberto Peri
