Yes I changed the hostfile

further things i have done:
- remove and recreate the relational database entry WRKRDBDIRE
- deleted sql packages
- update hostname and dbhostname in the INSTVERS table

The database name has not changed so there is no problem I think with SQL
catalogs pointing to the wrong library

I can signon now, i immediatly get a crash when accessing DOKTL, error text:
"verify own hostname (NLOCE020.OCE.NL) failed" It still thinks it's the old
machine, so there must be something i am overlooking...After this first
short dump i am able to work normally.

Regards,

Tom

Have you changed your host table entry for the system itself to reflect
the new IP?

Hi,

As it happens we are doing a recovery test now for one of our SAP
AS/400's.
The recovery itself went fine. SAP starts but cannot log on. I requested
a
temporary key with SAPLICENSE -TEMP and restarted SAP but I still cannot
log
on. the error I receive is : no HW id received from mssg server.

Problem may also be that i had to give the AS/400 another name and ip
because we had to connect it to the network. If i start the GUI for this
temporary fallback system it still shows the old system name.
Do i have to go to SAP for a real key instead of a temp one or am i
overlooking something?

regards,

Tom van Rooyen

Hi,

this is definetely an option.

But where is your problem with the hardwarekey? it will change, but you
can
order for your backup machine a further key from SAP.

regards

volker

Dear All,

We have SAP Release 4.6C running on AS/400, model 820 with V5R1. We
would like to know the following:

If i take an option 21 (Entire System) backup and restore it on a
different AS/400 machine, lets say with a similar configuration, will
it be operational?. If not, how do i make it operational?.

I have this query because SAP provides the license based on the
System ID and the Hardware key provided by the customer. Now, if i
restore the backup on a different AS/400 machine, obviously the
hardware key will change and the license key may no longer be valid.

Please speak.
