Object damaged so full backup abnormal end!

Volker,

yes, the situation is urgent. Rochester is working on that error since 4
weeks now, but no news so far. Must be a very tricky problem.

Last week be rebuilt our QAS by restoring both backups (R3<SID>DATA & temp.
ATAB-Lib) and it seems to be ok, so this is giving us some hope that it
should work for PRD as well when needed.

Regards,
Franz

Hi Franz,

I only wanted to point out, that you are doing a "backup" of ATAP
here, where nobody knows if this is useable in an emergency situation. So,
the severity of your problem is relatively high!
As you write below, that "fails to be saved for a couple of month
now" this should be told to everybody involved here, that a solution is
urgent.

Regards

Volker

Hi Volker,

I don't know exactly what the funcitonal difference between
CRTDUPOBJ and
CPYF is. The DSPFD command shows the identical number of records in
both
files, source and copy.

But even if there could appear differences, what else could we do?
The only
alternative is leaving the original ATAB unsaved.

Regards,

Franz

Hi Franz,

unfortunately it is very risky what is going on on your
site.
The problem is, that you never know that the CPYF will copy
the
complete contents of the table to the target file. We had
situations, where
records where changed in the copy of a dmaged file and no error
message was
created.

Volker

Hi Ice,

we have a similar problem with file ATAB, which fails to be
saved
for a
couple of month now. Rochester is working on it. In our case
the
file cannot
be saved with SAVLIB command (results in the same error
message as
you
have), but as a circumvention we can copy the "damaged" file
with
CRTDUPOBJ
to a temporary library. This lib including ATAB we can save
to tape
without
problems and so we have a complete backup of our database.

When I doing a routine full backup, the system tell
me "An
error
occurred
during the SAVLIB command that may affect the
remaining save

command". I check the joblog and the detail message
is "DTAQ
QPMJ47T003 in
Library QMPGDATA previously damaged.""DTAQ
QPMJ47T004 in
Library
QMPGDATA
previously damaged."Not all libraries saved."So I
can not to
do the full backup,How should I do in order to
repair the
object
damaged ?
Best Regards!
