V5R2 Performance issue - Production system (continued)
Hi Michael,
we did a upgrade from V4R5 to V5R2 for a customer still on a S20 on 3.1I.
The dialog response times went up from 350 ms to over 800 ms. The increase
in CPU time was minmal but the database time grew threefold. Under OS/400
debug we found out that the database was doing full table scans even
though a valid index was present.
We reorganized the whole database and after that the database did a regular
index access again. The custumer will resume full operation on 6 January so
we will only know after that if the solution helped but OS/400 database
accesses are much faster than before.
Reorganization of your huge database may not be possible but may be you
could give it a try on a few tables.
