3tier iSeries IS NOT A VIABLE PLATFORM FOR SAP as of V5R1! - IBM PMR ROADBLOCK with SAP!

Doreen,

we upgraded our two 740 app servers (270 and 200 GB disk) and our 740 db
server (1,200 GB disk) to V5R1 in April 2002. As before, we re-ipl all
machines once every 4 weeks due to scheduled maintenance - our SAP system is
not restarted as well in this time. So far we have not noticed any
degradation in temp storage management.

We can't run for more than 2 weeks without having to bring down SAP
on our SB3 app servers. Prior to V5R1 we could run for months!

Ever since we upgraded to V5R1; our SB3 app servers (with 34GB of
disk) have their TEMP STORAGE climb to the point where we are "forced" to
bring down SAP every couple of weeks and in our business THIS IS NOT
ACCEPTABLE!

I've spent days working with IBM on a pmr for this issue 82345,122
collecting DIRDUMP; PROCESSINFO; and iDoctor statistics
IBM has compiled the results and have gone to SAP development and
according to SAP this is functioning as designed.

If I end a WP; the temp storage is not being given back. For the
past 5 years prior to V5R1 this was not the behavior. We cannot and WILL
NOT run our business like this.

Are any of you running 3 tier with V5R1 and running for more than a
couple of weeks?

HELP - I'm at the end of my patience

Doreen
