Moving the database library to another ASP
Hi,no you cannot!
All buffers, extended memory and so on is "temporary storage".
IBM desigend the ASPs that way, that temp-storage can ONLY lie in ASP 1.

Subject: R: Moving the database library to another ASP
Importance: High
Hi Volker,
But at sapstart all buffers gone in ASP 1.....even if the R3<SID>DATA is, for
example, in ASP2....can I "map" the SAP R/3 buffers into another ASP than
ASP1????? Or the problem is the adress of teraspace at OS/400 level???
Thanks

Hi,
it's very easy: Nothing has to be done, because it is not interesting for SAP in
which ASP the R3SIDDATA is - except, that you should put the journal-receiver
into a different ASP.

Subject: Moving the database library to another ASP
Hi to all,
We have an issue to resove and don't know how to proceed.
The situation is the following:
- they are 6 ASP on our test AS/400 system with (initially 3 R/3 Systems)
now with 2 R/3 System;
- we want to join the ASP3, 4, 5 and 6 to a single ASP (the ASP1 and 2
remaining intact).
- the database libraries must be moved (SAVLIB then RSTLIB) -this is not an
issue.
- but what must be do after? how the R/3 Systems will know the database
libraries ASP? Must be corrected in the ".sapconf" file? If yes, what must be
modified?
I do not find any SAP Notes regarding to this. Is it exist?
Every help is welcome.
Best regards,
Istvan Csiszer
