Config copy of PRD to DEV......
Do you mean a "client copy" or a Homogenous system copy?
This was our process when we went from 3.1H to 4.6C.....
Jan - Feb 2001
- Homogenous system copy of 3.1H PRD to a NEW 3.1H DEV (with a new DEV
name)
- BASIS tests upgrade of new DEV to 4.6C - focus on documenting process
and timings to be used to estimate down-time on PRD cut-over
- Delete new 4.6C DEV
- repeated the homogenous system copy of 3.1H DEV & upgrade to 4.6C
3times; then continued on
March 2001
- made sure all active config & programming had been released and
transported thru to PRD
- in effect our 3.1H landscape became "locked down"
- Homogenous system copy of 3.1H PRD to a NEW 3.1H DEV (with a new DEV
name)
- Homogenous system copy of 3.1H PRD to a NEW 3.1H TST (with a new TST
name)
- So then we had 5 systems (3.1H D01 / T01 / P01) & (3.1H DEV / TST)
- Upgrade NEW 3.1H DEV to 4.6C
- ABAP & config teams begin work in new 4.6C DEV to prepare for P01
upgrade
- Upgrade NEW 3.1H TST to 4.6C
- transport all ABAP & config team worked on in 4.6DEV to 4.6TST

We are in the Process of Upgrade our SAP 31H system to 4.6C , we were
thinking if any one has done a Config copy of PRD into DEV before
Upgrading the DEV System, we were told this is not an SAP recommended
procedure, has anyone out there done this before.
If so what are the Risk associated with doing this. Many Thanks in
