RCLSPACE at V5R1

Hi,

it is just the point, that IBM thinks, that RGZPFM is fully sufficient and
nobody wanted to maintain this product any more and it was really risky in the
SAP environment, because there was an old version out, that scratched your
database. We had about twice a year the situation, that this old
version was used from customers, that then detected after a fedw days, that
their database was corrupted!

Yes Andy,

since V5R1 you won't have anymore the RCLSPACE command, your new dudes are
RCLSTG (for ASPs reorganizing ) and RGZPFM (for physical file member
reorganization).

I'm still on V4R5 (yeah yeah I know) and I've always used RCLSPACE. Should

I use the RGZPFM method instead? What was the reason to stop using
RCLSPACE? Maybe in V5R1/V5R2 you don't have to specify each table with
RGZPFM?

If you check out the Infoapar you will see the following sorry
little note in it :

"NOTE: The RCLSPACE tool is no longer available. Use the
OS/400 command RGZPFM to free storage consumed by deleted
rows."
