Refresh of TST SID's with Production over 400gb

Charlie: we compressed our "sandbox" system. We ended up with a little over
2-times compression. Normal operation wasn't bad--entirely acceptable for a
sandbox system. We did some trials at the OS/400 level using ASC SEQUEL and
found very little difference reading the data. Refreshes, though, took much
longer--longer to delete the library and longer to restore it.

At one time (V4R5?), we had our journal receivers in a compressed ASP as well,
but overflowed them once or twice, and the compression didn't handle it well.
That was supposed to have been fixed, but I still wouldn't recommend overflowing
the ASP if you can prevent it.

We are not over 400 gb yet but we have some of the same issues.
My current plan is to turn on Hardware disk compression for our
developement LPAR when we upgrade our hardware later this
year. Has anyone else done this and do you have a rough idea
of how much disk space was saved? Any performance issues?

Thanks, Charlie
