Feedback on upgrade to SAP R/3 Enterprise 470X110
Hi All,I've recently finished an upgrade to SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7X110. The
starting point was R/3 3.1I so an upgrade to 4.6C EBCDIC was needed
before to carry out a codepage conversion ( CPC ), and after, the
upgrade from 4.6C ASCII to Enterprise 4.7X110 was done.
Some data about the database growth:
3.1I size 28 GBytes
4.6C EBCDIC size 43 GBytes
4.6C ASCII size 51 GBytes
4.7X110 size 68 GBytes
The database was small, and the database didn't grow the planned 70%
in CPC.
Most work was done in the upgrade to 4.6C, like development
adjustment so the upgrade to Enterprise was smooth and without big
issues. But process and phase list has changed a lot, so do not
forget to be up to date in docs and notes !!
Two points, a part of the ussual things ( PTF level, kernel patches,
etc. ), that I want to note:
1.- Error in phase EXEC_ALIAS --> This is important if you have the
database library on an ASP different to the system one. Customer had
R3T01DATA in ASP3, upgrade creates a shadow database named R3T01SHD
in ASP1 and linked to R3T01DATA but this is not supported if the
libraries are in different ASP's: SQL0204, CPF324A and SQL7008.
Solved saving R3T01SHD, deletion in ASP1 and restore in ASP3.
2.- After the upgrade, and after cleaning tasks like R3UP library
deletion, language supplementation fails. Table EWUCUKTXT referenced
program R3UP/TRIGGER ( seen in DSPFD ). Solved restoring library R3UP
as a workaround, SAP is working on this issue.
As a conclusion, from the technical point of view, the upgrade to
Enterprise was easy in comparison to the 4.6C one, but every SAP
customer is a different world.
