Kernel 1444

Hi Jim,

yes, I would say so. But this is not too much in my eyes. There are customers,
that have more in shorter time ...

We IPLed our production SAP server Saturday night, an 840 running V5R1,
supporting SAP 4.6C, with kernel 1313.

Before I started, temp storage was at 116,213 (after 2 weeks of running).
I dropped our "batch" instance, and storage went to 83,503.
I dropped our "interactive" instance, and storage went to 50,243.
I dropped our central instance, and storage went to 25,377.
I ended MIMIX, and storage went to 25,305.
I ended all subsystems, and storage went to 23,048.

I re-IPLed the machine, and storage was about 2,387.

Does that mean that I had 20,000 MB (23,048 - 2,387), or 20 GB, of "lost"
storage?

Hi Barry,

it will have nothging to do with the new kernel. In my eyes, you should open a
PMR at IBM if the memory is not released after STOPSAP.

I remember a lot of discussion around kernel 1444, but I couldn't recall if
anyone had problems with temporary storage once they had installed it. It
was installed here last weekend and our temp storage seems to running kind
of high (using about 40% of capacity on one of our app servers). We brought
down SAP last night on that app server but it still didn't clear out the
storage. Any thoughts?
