New System Build
When I can buy 2 AS400 to put up a landscape for 100 users with a hotstandby server for $30,000, I'll get it. Did I mention that my average
response time is under 200ms. I also went thru a go live with less Basis
support and less down time than our AS400 did during the go live on that
box. When putting up a small system like this the 400 just can't
compete. When I get a chance to put up a big installation on a 64 bit
SQL Server, I'll post my times uptime and response time and see if you
can beat it.

Hopefully it is just a test environment. You can get an AS/400 810 for
about the same price with no headaches.

Hi
I have to set up a new system for our South American Division. The new
system has to have all the configuration and programs that our current
system has. We currently run on an AS400 EBSIDIC and the new system will
be SQL 2000. Here is my plan if I missed anything or if what I'm
planning won't work could you please let me know.
Install a new system on the AS400 copy my current DEV system to it.
Delete all clients except for the SAP standards and the Master
Configuration client. Release all the transports that are currently in
that system. Do a Heterogeneous system copy from the AS400 to the SQL
server. Once the system is up on the SQL Sever, install the new language
and run RSTLAN_IMPORT_OCS to catch up the support packs for the
language. Once this is done I could use this client to build out my
landscape. If I missed anything or it won't work as I planned please let
me know. Thank you for your time.
