very slow client copy on S30
A couple of things WRKDSKSTS showed the journal ASP DISK DRIVES to be
running about 99% busy - so that was a definite bottleneck.
Upon Volker's suggestion, moved the receivers to ASP1 via a CHGJRN
Make sure to use parallel processing - SCCL - goto parallel processes
If you have setup the new client with a different "logical system name"
- a feature of 4.6C at a certain Support Pack level, the client copy
also performs the logical system name "conversion". You can stop this
(there's something in OSS on this)

Subject: very slow client copy on S30
Hi
I tried to do a local client copy on a S30 (v5r1, 3g, RAM) this
weekend.
The client is about 140G in size. After 24 hours we were about 16% done
so
we cancelled the job. We have plenty of disk space.
Admittedly this system is a little old and slow but we were very
surprised
that it might take around 6 days for a local client copy.
Anyone had this problem before ? I know the as/400 is rather slow on
client
copies. Any thoughts ?
Thanks in Advance
Matt Milne
