delete the SQL packages and restart the instances every weekend when the
full backup is running.

We have sometimes been able to get around restarting the app server
by issuing a /$SYNC. I do generally restart the app server later when
the users get off just to be sure for the next day. Depending on what
the users were involved in the dumping frequency takes a few minutes
to diminish.

I also have more app server instances running than I really would
require so I can use load balancing to move the users w/o just
dropping the offending instance(s).
