Hallo Joan!What message does the failing restore show?
Maybe a search with this MSGxxxnnnnn in the PTFs
http://www-912.ibm.com/a_dir/as4ptf.NSF/$searchform?Open&view=WWWPTFBYNUM
could reveal a remedy.
I have seen some PTFs (found using "TGTRLS")
where correct previous release support needs some PTFs...

Hi,
I've an interesting issue about the SAP backup. I'm doing an
homogeneous copy of our productive system that runs on V5R2M0 and I
try to restore to an old system that runs V4R5M0. The hosts have the
same tape drive, 6384, and the media used are SLR60 cartridges.
The problem is that is not possible to restore the DB library on
V4R5M0. I show the used commands:
To init the tape:
INZTAP DEV(TAP01) CHECK(*NO)
With SAVLIB appears CPA4058, and it's needed to answer INZ to
continue the backup.
To save the library:
SBMJOB CMD(SAVLIB LIB(R3VLPDATA) DEV(TAP01) ENDOPT(*REWIND) TGTRLS
(V4R5M0) PRECHK(*YES) SAVACT(*SYNCLIB) SAVACTWAIT(*NOMAX) SAVACTMSGQ
(QSECOFR) ACCPTH(*YES)) JOB(SAVDB_VLP) LOG(4 0 *MSG)
It's a pseudo online backup: I stop SAP, launch the SAVLIB and when I
get CPI3712 I start again SAP. The SAVLIB finishes OK. Note that I'm
using the option TGTRLS to be able to restore in V4R5M0.
To restore the library:
RSTLIB SAVLIB(R3VLPDATA) DEV(TAP01) OPTION(*NEW) MBROPT(*ALL)
ALWOBJDIF(*ALL) RSTLIB(R3VLDDATA)
The problem is related to the SAVACT options because with an offline
backup the restoration works fine:
SAVLIB LIB(R3VLPDATA) DEV(TAP01) TGTRLS(V4R5M0) ACCPTH(*YES)
Maybe is an IBM issue...
