Maintaining the default profile or the instance profile ?

Hi Volker,

We typically try to maintain the parm in the DEFAULT profile 1st and if
we get an error as to "this cannot be placed in the DEFAULT" or some
other message; we then are forced into maintaining in the instance
profile(s)

Subject: Maintaining the default profile or the instance
profile ?

Hi all,

in my new job I found out, that all parameters, that are useful to be
the same systemwide (e.g. password, length) should really be set in
the default profile. Only things like buffer settings and so should
be set in the instance profiles.
From my time in the AS/400 I did always everything in the instance
profile - which is pretty bad when going 3-tier e.g. with NT-APPL-
Servers.
So, my question:
How are you using the profiles ?
As I assume, that most of you will use instance profiles for
everything: What do you think on changing this to the "SAP way" of
doing this ?

Regards

Volker
