I have about the same problem as you, but we use English. I got this:

Did you check RAW under Settings and Converson rules in trans SCOT? I have:
OTF PS 2 SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_OTF_PRT
OTF RAW 9 SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_OTF_RAW
RAW SCR 9 SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_RAW_SCR
RAW TXT 7 SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_RAW_TXT
SCR OTF 1 SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_SCR_OTF
Do that means that RAW is supported as Jim wrote?
My guessing is that the problem is around codepage... We use standard
value ISO-8859-1.

We had one of our tests where the text ended up as an attachment. That had
to do with the settings in SCOT. I think RAW had to be a "Supported
format". Then the text came through properly.

is there some one who configured the SAP mail gateway on iSeries, so that
it works correctly, for a german system ?
I tried that.
It send something, you can read it. But not the way as it should be.
Description line is missing and attechments are converted to text.
I think that should have someting to do with the device type in the node
description.
